Happy 7th Birthday to my heart, Elijah!

Today, it is my privilege to celebrate seven years of loving this incredible boy. What better way to document this age than his biggest passion, with a skateboard session.

Here’s the thing about Elijah, I don’t think i’m cool enough to be his mom! I tell him all the time but does he believe me? He’s so clever, funny, kind, intelligent, and has the purest heart! He always surprises us with his quick wit and kind words.

Also, this kid right here LOVES skating, paper airplanes, nerf guns, cars, and playing with his friends. For his birthday session I knew that I had to do something special for him and luckily, he was excited (or at least cooperative! LOL) for his skateboard themed session. It was so much fun and thankfully, no moms were hurt in the making of these images! 🙂

When we decided to go to the skate park in Mililani, I was really surprised by his excitement to change his shirt and shoes and let me photograph him. It was such a beautiful day though and I’m so happy to have shared this experience with him. I cannot express how proud I am of Elijah.

From Fear to Joy

It’s such an overwhelming feeling of gratitude that I carry with me to have him. As some of you may know, he was born with respiratory problems that landed him in the NICU for his first two weeks of life. He was in constant rotation in the pediatric ward/ICU for his first year of life. Riding a skateboard was the furthest thing from our minds at that time.

Having that experience was an unimaginable pain and fear that I pray no mother should have to endure but thankfully, he’s grown into a happy and healthy boy with no memory of that.

Elijah,

You are spectacular! Being your mom is such an immense joy and a huge blessing! You’re the coolest kid I know and such a great brother too. I’m so thankful for each day with you and am so happy for the privilege of raising you. I can only hope to be as good of a mom as you are a son. I really don’t think that i’m cool enough for you! You are so smart, funny, brave, kind, and honest (and can somehow always read my mind and know what i’m going to say). You’re also such a cutie pie that it’s hard to be upset with you when you do something wrong! I love you so deeply and I hope that you have a very happy birthday and many, many more happy birthdays!
