“Ten thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck!”
Well, maybe it hasn’t been quite 10,000 years but it feels like it! Without photographing clients, being creative, and walking up and down sandy beaches, camera in hand, it surely seems like an eternity. I miss joking around and creating beautiful images. I miss getting people to do things that feel a little awkward and look fantastic and natural on camera, but mostly, I miss the looks on my clients faces when they see those same images and are overjoyed!
So, let’s pretend that you’re a photographer, have a ton of creative energy, and no visible outlet…what do you do? Well, I can’t answer that for you (i’m not a mind-reader! LOL) but I can assure you that a lot of time has been spent creating the next natural step for me..Flat-Lay photography!
Why this medium? Well, now that i’m beginning to book elopements, micro-weddings, and a select few full weddings, I need to photograph the beautiful details that go into said event. This includes bouquets, rings, and stationary which is all hand-crafted by incredible artisans and I just cannot let them or the sweet couples down.
What was especially fun about this is that I have learned SO MUCH! It really got me thinking in a different way, artistically I was able to create, add, remove, and adjust things. I was able to truly hone in on my aesthetic and work to find the warm, clean, natural look that I love! Flat-lay photography is something that we touched on in college and this project truly helped me touch base with some of my more experimental art classes that I just adored.
So, here’s some really exciting news….I’m actually going to be collaborating with several artists this entire Summer and I’m taking a flat-lay course so I’m thrilled to announce that there will be so many more artistic images coming your way soon friends! But, for now, look below at what I created with COSTCO flowers, and a few things I put together myself.
And stay tuned for more images in the coming months that I’m sure will delight you! And this time, the flowers will be from fantastic florists, the invites and decor from calligraphers, and the jewelry from a new and exciting business that I’m working with!
