When the incredible Megan, owner of Mrs. Browns Florals and Events told me about her idea to host a maternity session part, I was beyond excited! She truly is a gem to work with and always nails the details in such a fun and beautiful way!
You already know that I’m always down for things that are fun, different, and beautifully decorated events and Megan let me know that she was looking for a maternity photographer, I couldn’t wait!
Fun fact: We were originally going to have 6 mamas but a certain little guy was born the day before our shoot so that mama got to enjoy sweet baby snuggles that day instead!

I’ll be honest, I LOVE photographing expecting moms! Women just have this incredible beauty and power and when they’re making a whole entire person, well, that’s really amazing! I mean, they’re MAKING A PERSON! It’s just such a special thing to witness and capturing this time for them is such a privilege. They’re the images that will last a lifetime and keep a reminder of such an important moment in their lives.
Why is a maternity session important?
I believe that a pregnancy is the most significant and life-changing part of a woman’s life. Everything about you shifts, there’s an emotional, physical, psychological, and identity shift that is so important to document. Whether your pregnancy is a breeze or you have challenges during your pregnancy either an outdoor or even in home maternity session can be arranged for you to be super comfortable and relaxed through the entire experience.
When should I schedule my maternity portrait session?
I always recommend that my mamas-to-be schedule their portrait session for around 30-35 weeks pregnant for single babies and around 28-32 weeks for mamas expecting multiples. While there is some flexibility here, you’ll likely be more comfortable on your feet earlier in your pregnancy versus later.
Wondering what to wear for your maternity session?
I ALWAYS recommend women wear dresses that they feel gorgeous in but there is just something magical about a mom-to-be in a soft, beautiful dress that feels great and is COMFORTABLE! 🙂
